The Carter-Knowles family is no different from our own.
That is the premise of the joint statement that was released by Jay Z, Beyonce and Solange just days after TMZ published a video of Solange attacking her brother-in-law in an elevator at the Met Gala.
The family broke their silence yesterday and reminded fans and followers that they are no different from other families.
They have drama. They have quarrels. They even have fights.
According to the statement, the “united family” is disappointed that what was supposed to be a private moment was leaked for the public to witness, but they are asking that everyone move past the “unfortunate incident” the same way they are.
“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident,” the statement to the Associated Press said. “But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred.”
The statement goes on to say that both Jay Z and Solange “acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public,” and they have since “apologized to each other.”
Now they are ready to move forward.
The statement also shut down one of the major rumors that was circulating around the Web – the speculation that Beyonce’s baby sister was drunk.
“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout the evening are simply false,” the statement continued. “At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”
Since then, there have certainly been signs that the Carter-Knowles family are doing just fine.
Beyonce shared several loving photos of herself and her sister, while Solange posted a “throwback” photo, posing with Beyonce.
Shortly after the fight, Solange and Jay Z were allegedly spotted out shopping together, and the Carters were spotted courtside at the Brooklyn Nets playoff game on Monday.
The famous couple were smiling and laughing and even took time to chat with Miami Heat baller LeBron James.
