Singer Robin Thicke and actress Paula Patton have “mutually” decided to split after almost a decade of marriage. Meanwhile, cheating rumors have continued to swirl around Thicke.
The couple has been steadily defending their marriage amidst all the rumors of cheating scandals and trouble in paradise, but they finally decided to call it quits at nine years of marriage.
“We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time,” the couple said in a joint statement to People Magazine on Monday.
The couple were married in 2005 and they have a 3-year-old son together named Julian.
While neither Paula nor Robin have given any specifics about why they have decided to separate, many people are already speculating that it has a lot to do with Robin’s flirtatious ways.
After Robin got extremely hands-on with Miley Cyrus during their VMAs performance, tons of other rumors of infidelity began swirling around him.
A photo of the “Blurred Lines” singer groping a blonde woman hit the web and it wasn’t long before another photo surfaced of him getting very cozy with a curly-haired woman in a nightclub.
As the rumors of cheating began to grow, so did the complications of the story.
Some outlets began reporting that the couple was in an “open relationship,” while others suggested Paula was furious about the photos.
When asked about the cheating rumors in the past, Robin defended his relationship and gushed over just how much Paula meant to him.
“I don’t know if I would still be alive in some ways if it wasn’t for Paula,” he told Prestige Hong Kong magazine in September. “She’s been my rock, my muse, my inspiration and I love her. The whole way.”
The couple also gave the impression that everything was fine when they posed together on the red carpet at the Grammys last month.
There have been no reports of a divorce filing as of yet.
