Meagan Good is in New York City with her husband DeVon Franklin for “Anchorman 2” promos. The former “Deception” star has been steadily promoting the highly-anticipated comedy (featuring cameos from Drake and Kanye West), which hits theaters on Dec. 18, and she’s looking fabulous. She graced the red carpet in a Donna Karan gown with a plunging neckline and a bold red lip. In the flick, Good stars as Linda Jackson, Ron Burgundy’s (Will Ferrell) boss and possible love interest…and one of the first black women to become the head of a news station.
In a recent interview with Complex magazine, Good revealed just how she reacted the moment she found out she got the part of Linda Jackson:
“I started thanking God immediately. I know there were a lot of people up for it, and I know it was all God. I just feel like…I was just excited. I was over the moon.”
During her visit in NYC, Good stopped by “The Wendy Williams Show”. While chatting with the talk-show host, Good addressed the backlash she’s received from the church community for her red-carpet attire, dished on landing her “Anchorman 2” role and shared thoughts about Kanye West’s use of religious imagery on the YEEZUS tour.
On being a real life preacher’s wife and getting criticism from the church:
Good is aware of the criticism comes she gets from the Christian community, but because she’s been walking red carpets since she was 13, she knows what she deems appropriate may differ from others.
On pressure to have a baby:
“No, I’m not ready yet….My mom is.” She said she and her husband want to enjoy being married.
On landing her ‘Anchorman 2’ role:
After getting a few pointers from a “Deception” staffer who knew Will Ferrell, Good recorded a Balls to Wall audition tape that caught Ferrell’s attention. He loved her chemistry and she even punched him in the stomach during their chemistry read!
On holiday plans:
Good said she and her hubby are going to Oakland to visit his sassy aunts. They’re in their 70s and enjoy karaoke…so that’s what’s going down at the family functions.
On Kanye West’s YEEZUS tour and use of religious imagery:
She said she remembers him saying he’s a Christian and wants to raise his children as Christians. “Let him do his thing and work that out. The concert has also raised a lot of conversations about Jesus as well…”
