Still in Hot Water: Cee Lo Green Faces Possible Jail Time For Ecstasy Charges

Cee Lo Green faces up to 4 years in jail after rape charges were droppedCee Lo Green may be in the clear after Los Angeles prosecutors dropped rape charges against him, but he still could face up to four years in prison if found guilty if slipping the drug ecstasy into his date’s drink over a year ago.

So far things have been going in Green’s favor, and it seems as if the soulful singer is confident that he won’t be found guilty of any of the charges against him, but prosecutors aren’t so sure.

Sources familiar with the investigation previously said that “The Voice” coach left a voicemail for the woman that made a clear reference to ecstasy, which is similar to the drug known as “molly,” but there are  distinct differences between the two.

Green’s attorney Blair Berk said that his client “will responsibly address” the drug charges at a court hearing scheduled for Nov. 20 at 8:30 a.m.

He entered a not guilty plea on Monday and immediately posted his $30,000 bail.

The charges stem from when the woman accused of Green of rape back in July 2012. According to the victim, she says she woke up naked in Green’s bed and later received a troubling phone call in which the star allegedly admitted he slipped ecstasy into her drink.

Berk said, “We are pleased that the Los Angeles County district attorney has completed its investigation and concluded that the evidence did not support the false and unfounded claim made over a year ago.”

As the case moves forward, the “Forget You” singer said he is relieved that the initial rape charges were dropped and he is not afraid of the remaining charges before him.

Earlier it was reported that Green may only be facing probation for the drug charge; however, that is only a charge for the possession of such an illegal substance. If he is found guilty of slipping the drug into the woman’s drink, Green will certainly have to spend some time behind bars.
