Peep This: Pusha T Brings the ‘Pain’

Pusha T lives up to his moniker as he continues to push out new visuals from his recently released album “My Name Is My Name.” Pusha’s latest video offering is “Pain,” a track that features Future.

According to rap-up.com:

“Pusha T keeps dropping dope visuals. After visiting Compton with Kendrick Lamar in “Nosetalgia” and hitting the beach with Chris Brown in “Sweet Serenade,” the Virginia MC brings the “Pain” in his latest video featuring Future.

“The artsy black-and-white clip carries on the minimalistic theme found in his album packaging and visuals, with powerful imagery of police brutality, civil rights demonstrations, and Trayvon Martin’s fateful trip to a convenience store.”

That minimalistic theme has definitely been consistent for Pusha T on this My Name Is My Name project, and it reinforces the narrative of returning rap to its essence. In a recent Billboard interview, Pusha talks about his current views of hip-hop and the process of creating the new album saying, “The competition’s all but died to me.”

It’s been speculated that he’s referring to his beef with Lil Wayne here, and although he wouldn’t go into specifics, the point remains clear.

“I don’t think anyone makes street-driven hip-hop like me,” he said, matter of factly.  “Hip-hop is like smooth jazz to me and I’m here to change that.”

Pusha T’s new album My Name Is My Name  was released on Tuesday, and early sales projections indicate he’ll sell about 75,00 units in his first week.
