Kendrick Lamar’s BET Cypher Diss Aimed at Papoose?

Since Kendrick Lamar dropped his “Control” verse nothing has been the same in rap music. And Kendrick seems to agree, rapping in his much talked about BET cypher clip:

“Nothing’s been the same since they dropped ‘Control.’ And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes.”

With words like “nothing’s been the same,” closely resembling the title of Drake’s new album, “Nothing was the Same” and “sensitive rapper,” most people assumed that Kendrick was talking to Drake. However now people are saying the diss is directed at Brooklyn rapper Papoose.

According to vibe.com:

“Thought to be a dig at Drake, who released his third LP Nothing Was the Same last month, another theory emerged that the line was actually a diss at the diss-loving, stage-bombing Papoose.

“Papoose infamously went after Lamar following the release of his ‘Control’ verse in August. On his ‘Control’ Freestyle,’ Papoose called Lamar a ‘f***g joke’ and finished off with the poetic line: ‘Strip him to his socks, I bet you he got a p***y/ My bullets hit ‘em dead in his footy, come out his booty.’ Flip back to Lamar’s cypher with the shout-outs to being ‘bulletproof’ and ‘pajama clothes,’ and it appears the diss is directed at Papoose.”

Papoose also seems to agree. A tweet surfaced on the rappers’ Twitter page suggesting Drake fall back. That tweet was later removed from the rapper’s page.

“I agree with the people,” Papoose said in an XXL interview about K Dot’s cypher. “I looked at the majority and they were saying he was going at me. So I agree with the listeners, I agree with the fans. They say majority rules, so I agree with the majority.”

Papoose also says he already making a response to Kendrick’s cypher without needing to hear the rest of it.

Although Papoose is taking this issue up, there’s still hasn’t been any word from Kendrick on who he was aiming the diss at. The full cypher will air on Oct. 15.
