Jay Z Dishes on How He Wooed an ‘Unimpressed’ Beyonce Back in the Day

Jay Z and Beyonce may be the musical power couple of the decade now, but during his latest interview with Vanity Fair Jay Z revealed that at one point he was busy pulling out all the stops just to get Baddie Bey’s attention.

Beyonce sings about her man in many of her songs and in her recent documentary she even admits on camera that all she wants to do after a rough day is make love to her husband.

The couple are obviously madly in love with each other, but if the New York rapper wasn’t so persistent, they might not have even had a chance to start dating.

When discussing posing with the curvy songstress for the cover of Vanity Fair back in 2001 he revealed that his relationship with Beyonce had really just started.

“We were just beginning to try to date each other,” he said. “Well, you know, you’ve got to try first. You got to dazzle… wine and dine.”

You’ve got to wine and dine and then some, in Beyonce’s case.

Blue Ivy Carter’s dad admitted that he had to pursue Beyonce. According to him, Mrs. Carter had serious Southern charm and was hard to impress.

Blue Ivy listens to Magna Carta Holy Grail “She’s a charming Southern girl, you know, she’s not impressed,” he said.

The good news is that apparently the “Tom Ford” rapper was just cool enough to keep his future wife interested and he claimed he didn’t even need to be a rapper to do it.

When asked if he believes he could have bagged Beyonce without being a famous hip-hop star, he relied, “If I’m as cool as I am, yes.”

Meanwhile, there is one other lady that Jay Z is obsessed with trying to impress – adorable daughter Blue Ivy.

As the world waited to see if a deal with Samsung would push Jay Z to platinum status before his Magna Carta Holy Grail album even hit stores in July, Mr. Carter was already pleased with his album simply because his daughter loved it.

He explained that after the album came out they played it a few times and when baby Blue got an earful of her daddy’s music, she wanted more.

“I don’t know if Blue ever heard any of my music prior to this album – she’s only 18 months old and I don’t play my music around the house,” he said. “But this album was new, so we played it and she loves all the songs. She plays a song and she goes, ‘More, Daddy, more… Daddy song.’ She’s my biggest fan.”

Of course, we’re hoping baby Blue didn’t get a chance to hear the entire album since it features songs like “F**kWithMeYouKnowIGotIt” and “Holy Grail,” tracks that feature language that some parents wouldn’t even let their preteens listen to.

Either way, HOV made one thing very clear.

He certainly has what it takes to impress the two beautiful ladies in his life.
