Evelyn Lozada Ready to Break Away from ‘Basketball Wives,’ Pushes for Own Show

Evelyn Lozada domestic violence photos published by TMZThree years ago very few people knew of Evelyn Lozada, but a reality TV show produced by Shaquille O’Neal’s ex-wife, Shaunie, changed all of that.

The spicy Latina was easily the breakout star of VH1’s “Basketball Wives” and now after five seasons, she’s ready to move on. The journey didn’t come without its hiccups, however. On the road to fame, Lozada earned the reputation of being a bully and a hot head. Her month-long marriage to former NFL star Chad Johnson ended in a domestic violence dispute. Lozada’s reputation didn’t buy her any sympathy votes. As with all comeback stories, Lozada found her way back to the top. She has been using much of season five to change her narrative with viewers.

In an interview with Huff Post Live, Lozada revealed this may be her last season, not because she’s over reality TV, but because she believes her stock is high enough to carry her own show.

“As far as future seasons, I signed on to do 5 seasons. And this is our fifth. I don’t really see me doing a sixth season,” she admitted. “I’m open to doing a spinoff, but just not with a cast of women…”

“I’m in a different space. I have so much other things going on. I had my own show before, unfortunately it was cancelled due to the incident. But I know I can carry my own show. Pretty much carried this one. So I feel like, we’ll see.”

It’s clear Lozada is confident in the star power she has harnessed over the past three years.
