Barely 24 hours after releasing his latest track “Wu-Tang Forever” from his upcoming album Nothing Was The Same, Drake unveiled more new music for his fans. The Toronto rapper performed on NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Friday, and instead of doing a song that had been already released, Drake gave a preview of a new song, ‘Too Much.”
According to vibe.com:
“Alongside the newest member of his OVO Sound imprint Sampha, Drake belted out two verses of thought-provoking material, in which he candidly reflects on the relationships he shares with people close to him. He prefaced his performance with a special message: ‘Before I do this song, I just want to say to my friends and family, I want the best for everybody and I love you all.'”
Drake sent the message because the song cuts deeply into family relationships. Too Much is about the strain of personal relationships after attaining success and wealth. Based on the lyrics of this song, Drake who is normally rapping about how happy he is to be able to share his success with his friends, seems a little frustrated.
Before the performance, Drake was interviewed by Fallon.
As reported by complex.com:
“Prior to his performance on the show, Drake was interviewed by Jimmy Fallon. Sitting next to the other guest of the show, (actress) Scarlett Johansson, Drake spoke about Nothing Was The Same‘s cover art, the collaborators who he worked with, and the tour that follows. Drake and Fallon also teamed up to beat Johansson and Black Thought of The Roots in a friendly game of charades.”
Drake’s highly anticipated new album Nothing Was The Same is set to hit stores on Sept. 24.
