Terrence Howard’s ex-wife made shocking allegations against the actor in recent court documents after she was given a temporary restraining order against him.
It was no secret that Howard wasn’t taking his divorce from Michelle Ghent well, but his ex-wife is finally revealing just how bad it really was.
While Howard may have been the winner when it came to the financial side of the divorce war, he certainly wasn’t on top when it came to the emotional turmoil that plagued the marriage.
According to court documents filed by Ghent, Howard went on a violent rampage after an argument over Ghent finding other women’s phone numbers in his bag.
Howard’s ex began calling each of the phone numbers from their Toronto hotel room, and that was enough to send Howard over the edge.
The documents claim that the 44-year-old actor tossed her laptop out of a window before picking her up and slamming her to the ground.
After that Ghent claimed he threatened to slash his own wrists with an X-Acto blade.
TMZ also reported that Howard allegedly wrapped a belt around his neck as if he were going to hang himself and told Ghent, “I’m just thinking if I should kill you first before killing me.”
The altercation happened in April, but Howard said he believes his ex wanted to push the story around the same time “The Butler” was in theaters, so she could ruin his reputation out of spite. Howard stars in the film.
But needless to say, accusations like these can demolish his reputation regardless of whether he has a movie out at the time or not.
To make matters worse, there was also a string of text messages from Howard to Ghent with some extremely grim and twisted comments.
In one of the messages, the award-winning actor claimed he wished he was brave enough to “finish what should have been accomplished in the abortion clinic 44 years ago.”
Some people are trying to connect his emotional instability to drug use, and it appears those fans and speculators are correct.
In another text message sent after the heated hotel conflict, he told Ghent that he was willing to get help for his “additions and emotional instability.”
Last month, Ghent obtained a restraining order against Howard after a violent meltdown during their vacation to Costa Rica in July.
During that altercation, Howard allegedly punched and kicked his former wife and Internet images of her blackened eye went viral in a matter of days.
Of course, there are two sides to every story and Howard said that Ghent had pepper sprayed him first and that is what sparked the attack.
While there is certainly no excuse for any type of domestic violence, it does appear that both parties may carry some blame for the explosive nature of their relationship.
We just hope that Howard really does seek the help that he needs with whatever addictions he mentioned and finds a way to become emotionally stable.
We also hope Ghent has full recovery, physically, mentally and emotionally, after suffering in an abusive marriage.
