Fox has finally seated its judges panel for next season’s “American Idol.”
The network confirmed Harry Connick Jr. along with the returning panelists Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban will serve at the judges’ table for the 13th season of the singing competition show.
“I have always been a huge fan of American Idol and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show,” said Connick. “And I am honored that they’ve asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol, and to help emerging performers find their way.”
Fox also announced on Tuesday that Randy Jackson will return as the show’s in-house mentor and Ryan Seacrest as host, dubbing the five celebrities the “American Idol XIII Dream Team,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The franchise’s judges’ panel shakeup follows the exit of singers Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, who carried a hefty price tag but were unable to improve the sluggish ratings of last season.
The judges begin production on American Idol, season 13 on Sept. 3 in Boston.
