Was rapper Drake attempting to capitalize on baby Blue Ivy’s popularity to promote his new album? Not likely. But that has not stopped fans on Twitter from making the connection.
Drake released the artwork for his upcoming album, “Nothing Was the Same” last week. The illustration, created by artist Kadir Nelson, shows a baby Drake staring back at his adult self.
Immediately, Twitter followers joked that Drake borrowed Beyonce and Jay Z’s baby girl for his cover.
“Why is Blue Ivy on Drake’s album cover?” one fan tweeted. Another noted, “Drake put Blue Ivy Carter on his new album art #notmad.”
Thankfully, the “Starting from the Bottom” rapper didn’t mind stating the obvious to MTV: “It’s a child version of myself staring at myself now. Sometimes when I try and think back on this journey, it’s so hard to pinpoint all of these moments and it gets foggy.”
