Lost in the weirdness that was the MTV VMAs last night, DJ duo Daft Punk released a new music video for their hit song “Lose Yourself to Dance,” featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers. The song is a great follow-up to the French electronic musicians’ summer hit “Get Lucky” which also features Pharrell and Rodgers. According to globalgrind.com:
“If you loved the moves Pharrell was doing in Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ music video, you’ll be dancing your little heart out to ‘Lose Yourself To Dance.’
“Reminiscent of an ’80s music video, Pharrell Williams, Daft Punk, and legendary producer Nile Rodgers lose themselves to dance in the 60-second music video. Dressed in shiny glittery suits, Nile and one half of Daft Punk rock out to the electric guitars as Pharrell hits all his favorite falsetto notes.”
Daft Punk hopes to replicate the success of its first single “Get Lucky,” which took the summer by storm, and probably was only behind Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” for song of the summer.
The common thread between two of the hottest songs of the summer and “Lose Yourself to Dance” is Pharrell. After going through a cold period where he wasn’t featured on many songs, Pharrell has reasserted himself as one of the hottest producers in the music industry.
