Legendary & Warner Bros. Deal Sours; ‘Seventh Son’ Makes Major Change

The split between Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures is final. Now one of the duo’s films, “Seventh Son,” will be released on a different date.

Just days after Legendary opted out of the “Man of Steel” sequel to focus on Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar,” Warner Bros. has decided to allow Legendary to walk away with the Djimon Hounsou film, “Seventh Son.”  Warner Bros. and Paramount have  a joint distribution deal for “Interstellar.”

“Seventh Son” will no longer be in theaters Jan. 17, 2014, and is reported to be solely distributed by Universal. A new release date has not been set for the film at this time.

“Seventh Son,” also features actors Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore. It is a 18th-century adventure centered on young Thomas, who is apprenticed to the local Spook to learn to fight evil spirits. His first great challenge comes when the powerful Mother Malkin escapes her confinement while the Spook is away.
