8. Justin Gatlin bragged after crossing the line first in the 100-meter-dash at the 2004 Athens Olympics. But his big ego crumbled after the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) told him he had tested positive for a banned substance for a second time, and banned him from the sport for life. Thereafter, Gatlin chose to cooperate with federal authorities by wearing a wire and making undercover calls to assist the U.S. government. In returned for his cooperation, the IAAF reduced Gatlin’s lifetime ban to an eight-year ban, which eventually became a four-year ban.
7. Marion Jones made a tearful confession in 2007 for making false statements to federal agents about her drug use. She was ultimately sentenced to six months in jail and stripped of all her 2004 Athens Olympic medals.
