‘2 Guns’ Shoots to Top Box Office Spot

The Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg crime comedy, “2 Guns,” could have fared better at box office opening, but making $27.3 million over the three-day weekend was all it needed to snag the top box office spot.

The film easily won the North American Box office, beating out “The Smurfs 2” and “The Wolverine,” earning $1.3 million Thursday night and $10 million Friday night –  putting it on course with studio predictions when all receipts are tallied on Monday.

The action pic earned a B+ CinemaScore from audiences, and cost between $80 million and $90 million to produce – which means the film could make its production budget in its first two weeks in theaters.

Directed by Baltasar Kormakur,  “2 Guns” revolves around DEA agent (Washington) and Naval Intelligence officer (Wahlberg) who must work together after they are set up by the CIA.
