The “2 Guns” red band trailer has arrived online, just ahead of its Friday, August 2nd release. If you’re expecting something more naughtier than the previously-released trailers, sorry to disappoint. Aside from Mark Wahlberg letting the s-word loose, there’s nothing but PG-13 action going on here. Well, there might be a little bit more blood, explosions, and maybe the occasional Paula Patton booty shot lingering on screen a tenth of a second longer. Other than that, there’s nothing to justify a red band status.
In this big-budget, adrenaline-pumping, buddy-cop action comedy, we see Denzel Washington teaming up with Walhlberg as an odd cop duo racing to save their lives and Patton’s when their covers are blown in an undercover operation. Judging from the trailer’s release date, both Walhlberg and Washington seemed poised to deliver brilliant comedic performances, but of course until the film is actually released, the jury is still out.
2 Guns was directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Contraband), who worked from a script by “Law & Order: LA” writer Blake Masters and is based on Steven Grant’s graphic novel of the same name. Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, and Paula Patton lead a cast that also includes James Marsden, Edward James Olmos and Bill Paxton.
