Free Worldboss: Vybz Kartel Found Not Guilty

Vybz Kartel is one step closer to being a free man, as he’s been found not guilty in one of the two murder cases against him. The dancehall artist, who’s real name is Adidja Palmer, and two other defendants faced murder charges in relation to Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton, whose body police believed was found in a house affiliated with the dancehall star. However, Kartel is not a free man yet, as he is still awaiting trial for another murder case the authorities have brought against him. As reported by the jamaicaobserver.com:

“Kartel and his two co-accused were yesterday acquitted of a charge of murder in the Home Circuit Court after the prosecution offered no further evidence against them.

“The prosecution’s decision was expected in light of Justice Bryan Sykes’ dismissal on Tuesday of its application for the statements from two key witnesses to be entered into evidence under section 31(D) of the Evidence Act.”

The  jamaicaobserver.com did not mention if they received a statement from Vybz Kartel on the verdict:

“I had the utmost confidence from the outset, as I knew I was being used as a scapegoat… because of my image and content of some of my music,” said the statement.

“I want to thank my attorneys Tom and Christian Tavares-Finson, my family, my baby mother Shorty and all my fans for their continued support in my trying times,” the statement concluded.

Vybz awaits his second case which isn’t set to start until November. Regarding the Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams murder case as reported by  jamaica-gleaner.com, “Kartel will remain in custody because he has another murder case pending against him.”

In the meantime, we’ll see if this not guilty verdict will give Vybz any leverage in attaining bail for his next case.

Hopefully so, because regardless of your personal feeling towards him, or all the negatives that come along with the package that is Vybz Kartel—dancehall music has been quite boring without him.
