Derek Jeter‘s return to the Yankees dugout started out well, as the 39-year-old singled in his first at-bat, coming off an ankle injury that sideline him this whole year. Then as the game went on, the tides turned a little as Jeter needed a pinch hitter after he suffered a thigh muscle injury.
Jeter thinks he and other players are slowed by injuries as they get older.
“We’re all getting older here,” said Jeter, 39. “Age doesn’t creep into my mind when I’m playing. Maybe in the mornings, but not while I’m playing.”
During his return, the New York Yankees all-star drove in and scored a run in a 8-4 win against the Kansas City Royals.
