Last time we heard about Mo’Nique she was revealing her recent 82-pound weight loss to the world. Other than that, the actress has remained below the radar since the cancellation of the show she hosted on BET from 2009 to 2011.
When Mo’Nique and BET parted ways, there were a number of rumors swirling around suggesting the comedian and the network were not on the best of terms.
This is what the actress told radio station Hot 97 when asked about the reason her talk show was cancelled from BET,
Let me say this about the experience, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. We wanted folk to go to bed and feel good. Those two years were amazing. I wish I could give you the answer. I honestly don’t know what happened with the Monique Show. You should maybe ask Ms. Debra Lee because I don’t wanna assume. I can’t give you answer to that. But what I will say to the people, we thank you. It was a show for our community, baby. It was so diverse; it was for everybody.
Now it appears that Mo’Nique has made up with the network, as news has emerged that the actress is currently in pre-production for a pilot episode of a new show on BET. The reports did not indicate whether the new project would be a sitcom, talk show or reality show.
It seemed unlikely that Mo’Nique would remain in obscurity for too long. As a self-described hustler, it’s no surprise she’s on her way back with a new show and a new body.
