It’s Going Down: MLB Home Run Derby Teams Announced

The MLB players for this season’s Home Run Derby has been set, and the all participants, minus one American League slugger, have all been named.

NL team captain David Wright has picked Nationals’ youngster Bryce Harper,  and Michael Cuddyer along with his teammate and NL home run leader Carlos Gonzalez.

Last year, Gonzalez hit four homers in the first rounds before being eliminated, while Wright finished second in the challenge back in 2006. Neither Harper nor Cuddyer have participated in the Home Run Derby before now.

AL team captain Robinson Cano has selected Tigers’ first baseman Prince Fielder and MLB home run leader Chris Davis to join his team. Cano still has one more competitor to pick. He was last year’s winner, so he will attempt to defend his throne, while going for his third Home Run Derby title. Cano also won the event in 2009.
