Kelly Rowland Clears Up Abusive ‘Dirty Laundry’ Lyrics, Beyonce Beef

Kelly Rowland is opening up about the abusive relationship she sings about in her new track “Dirty Laundry” and addressing rumors of a Beyonce beef after admitting she used to be jealous of her Destiny’s Child sister.

Kelly’s song “Dirty Laundry” is as transparent, vulnerable, and emotional as music comes but even then there is only so much that a person can explain in two to three minutes.

So when the former Destiny’s Child songstress sat down with “OMG! Insider” she took the time to explain the abusive relationship that was mentioned in the song.

As it turns out, Twitter can finally put their torches and pitch forks away because the relationship happened quite some time ago and Rowland has already forgiven the unidentified man.

“A piece of me would just go away every time he would say something,” she said. “I’ll never forget those things. I’ll forgive him… he’s a different person now but it was things to tear me down as a person, as a woman.”

As much as we all want to continue our search to find out who dared to emotionally and physically harm Rowland, if she is willing to forgive I supposed we should too…right?

Anyway, she went on to say that she “allowed” him to harm her in such a way because she was too young at the time.

The good news is that Kelly has since grown from the terrible experience and is using her past to make sure those types of relationships wont show up in her life again.

This actually isn’t the first time the abusive boyfriend found himself on one of Kelly’s songs, however.

The R&B singer was surprised to see how quickly fans realized that the same relationship mentioned in “Dirty Laundry” also inspired the Destiny’s Child hits “Girl” and “Bad Habit.”

“…It’s so funny because I don’t know how people connect dots with music and artists that they have followed for so long, but when I saw that on Twitter people were starting to put all the pieces to the puzzle together, it was so interesting,” she admitted. “They did it with ‘Girl,’ they did it with ‘Bad Habit,’ they did it with so many songs on that album, and I was like ‘Okay, that’s crazy.’”

She also revealed that sometimes she will still get depressed when she listens to “Girl” just because she knows that Beyonce and Michelle helped pen the song just for her.

“Of course I did, the girls wrote it for me,” Kelly said. “Destiny’s Child is deeper than what people see on the surface.”

Well on the surface some people are seeing nothing but beef ever since they listened to “Dirty Laundry” but Rowland wanted to clear the air and let people know that there is no beef between any of the ladies.

She went on to explain that although she was jealous of Beyonce’s career she never felt angry or upset with Bey, she just wanted better for herself as well. As for the people who sparked the Beyonce beef rumors she feels like they should be ashamed for trying to create drama out of such an emotional track.

“I think the people wanted those stories for years and that’s just so sad on them because it’s not like that,” the new X-Factor judge explained.

In fact, Rowland said that Bey loved the song and told her it was “incredible.”

“She looked at me and said it’s incredible,” she continued. “And said how proud she was of me and then said ‘I never left.’”
