The Voice: Acts Heat Up and Usher Strips Down

Take note ladies, all it takes to get Usher to start stripping down is a cover of the Backstreet Boys and a broken air-conditioning unit.

At least that how it looks as the singer was forced to strip down during last night’s edition of “The Voice,” in what was probably the highlight of an impressive show.

The singer was so taken by Garrett Gardner’s rendition of “I Want It That Way”  by the Backstreet Boys that he had to take off a few layers until he was just in a vest and his trousers. Well, that and because the air-conditioning unit was broken in the studio. But the performances on last night’s show were so hot that it was a joint effort between the remaining acts and the air conditioning.

Although it was Shakira’s Gardner that had Usher taking his top off, it was actually the “Climax” singer’s team finished the night more impressively. While Josiah Hawley crooned a Script cover and Michelle Chamuel won praise for her rendition of “Call Your Girlfriend,” it was Vedo’s song and dance routine to  Michael Jackson‘s “Rock With You” that really shined.

In addition to Gardner’s performance, team Shakira saw Sasha Allen wow with her pop cover of Heart‘s “Alone,” with Kris Thomas taking on The Jackson 5‘s “I’ll Be There.”

In camp Blake Shelton, Holly Tucker  struggled a little, but still received praise from the judges, while The Swon Brothers also delivered. However, it was 16-year-old Danielle Bradbury that really starred, with Adam Levine telling her, “You’re the one to beat.”

Speaking of Levine, his team had a pretty impressive run in too, with Sarah Simmons giving a spine-tingling performance of “The Story” by Brandi Carlile.  Final performer Amber Carrington chose “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” by Martina McBride. LeVine’s other performer Judith Hill was perhaps the pick of the bunch however, and her act prompted Levine to say that she is “perhaps the most talented human being in this competition.”
