If you have ever wondered what Jamie Foxx would look like as Electro in “Amazing Spider-Man 2,” now you can have an idea (and fans of the green and yellow will be disappointed). With Foxx and “Amazing Spider-Man 2″ filming in New York this weekend, a few glimpses were spotted of Electro in action.
Foxx and the crew were in Times Square, so it’s no surprise that a few photos were taken of the actor in his new Electo garb. And as previously mentioned, this isn’t the classic Electro look you may be used to. Gone are the big, yellow lightning bolts, replaced with a bio-luminescent blue. As Foxx told BlackFilm.com about his “Amazing Spider-Man 2” costume:
“It won’t be green and yellow. It will be a different color. They (the producers) want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic book-y, so it won’t be green and yellow. They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down trying to figure out what happened. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff.”
As you can see below, this looks much more similar to the Ultimates version of Electro than anything from the Golden Age (and that’s probably for the better). On set, Foxx’s hoodie had lights surrounding the perimeter of the hood, making his face glow, a pretty cool effect that we’re sure will look even better when fully realized on screen.
