Fasten your seat belts and get ready for a wild ride. No, I’m not talking about a Disneyland ride, but the new movie Rush, starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl (Not to be confused with the Joseph Gordon-Levitt film, Premium Rush, which tells to story of a bike messenger in New York City.)
This Rush is a Ron Howard flick which tells the story of the 1970’s Formula 1 racing legend, Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) and his biggest rival, James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth). Lauda was inches from death after being badly burned in a crash, but miraculously managed to get behind the wheel just weeks after the accident. As seen from the trailer, Lauda’s rivalry with Hunt is a catalyst for his hasty return to racing.
Check out those sweet 70’s hairstyles. Just groovy ladies!Aside from the ego driven competition, there also seems to be a romance storyline for both Lauda and Hunt. Oh and let’s not forget some awesome 70’s era fashion.
Ron Howard has two Oscar nominations for adapting a real life story into a movie with Frost/Nixon and A Beautiful Mind , the latter earning him the little gold statuette for Best Director.
With Howard behind the camera, things already bode well for Rush. Add some sweet racing/ crash scenes for the men, Hemsworth, Brühl, and their charming accents for the women and get ready to wave that checkered flag because ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.
