I’d have thought Marvel would want to premiere this with Iron Man 3, but here it is right now: the first trailer for Thor: The Dark World. Have a looksy:
– It’s very nice to see all manner of environs as a setting for the film, after Thor, which was stuck in either greenscreenland or Arizona.
– The action in this one trailer is more exciting than pretty much anything I can remember from the first movie (which is not much).
– DARK ELVES, GUYS! DARK ELVES! This is the nerdiest thing yet in the Marvel Cinematic Verse (at least until Rocket Raccoon debuts in Guardians of the Galaxy). The big bad one is played by Christopher Eccleston! His name’s Malekith, which sounds like Mike Tyson trying to say “male kisses,” which delights me.
– After all this positivity, there must be a reservation: they are strongly hinting that Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) is going to get fridged. Gross. This is possibly (hopefully) just marketing misdirection.
Thor: The Dark World comes out November 8th.
