Want to watch Channing Tatum dance around and take off his clothes? Well then don’t go see Sony’s upcoming summer blockbuster White House Down and instead pop in your Magic Mike DVD. Buuuut if you’re like me and just want to see Tatum in general, then go see White House Down.
People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” takes on a more serious role in the upcoming film. Tatum plays an off duty cop who is visiting the White House with his daughter when becomes tasked with saving the President of the United States, Jamie Foxx, from a massive military attack.
Does this plot sound vaguely familiar? Well, that’s because it’s pretty similar to FilmDistrict’s recent release, Olympus Has Fallen, only Aaron Eckhart plays the POTUS and Gerard Butler his macho savior. Olympus Has Fallen has done tremendously well, so far raking in $30.5 million and reigning supreme at the Box Office, according to Deadline.com. Roland Emmerich’s White House Down, while a similar premise, has a much bigger budget and argueably bigger stars, so will that be a recipe for a bigger payday? Or will audiences skip it since they just saw almost the same movie three months before? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Here’s the newest trailer for White House Down, set to hit theaters June 28.
