Kim and Kanye West Considering Naming Baby ‘North West’

With their child due in less than four months, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are making final preparations for parenthood. Selecting a name for the new baby is one of the tasks still left on their agenda, and West reportedly has a few possibilities in mind. British tabloid The Sun reports that West is considering naming the child “North,” and mentioned the possibility to friends during Paris Fashion Week last year.

The child, who is believed to be a girl, would presumably go by North West if the celebrity couple chooses that first name. With the baby due in July, they’ll have time to reconsider choosing a pun as a permanent name.

Kim has not weighed in publicly on the name or sex of the baby. A source told Hollywood Life that Kardashian and West will be enrolled in prenatal training together, with the rapper offering to join in on Lamaze classes, or even cut the umbilical cord, if need be.

“Kanye is going to do everything he needs to do to make sure Kim delivers his baby,” the anonymous source said. “So if that means he has to go to classes and help her breathe, he’s going to be there. If he has to hold her hand and she squeezes the hell out of it, he’s going to be one hand short. If he has to cut the cord, he’s going to cut it.”

Professionally, West’s latest cut is a track produced for artist Mos Def, now going by his alternative stage name Yasiin Bey. The track “The Light Is Not Afraid Of The Dark” was intended to be a part of Bey’s 2006 LP True Magic, but never made it out of the studio. A live version of the song debuted on Vimeo Thursday.
