Over the weekend, the alleged track list for Beyonce’s new album leaked online. The singer’s camp remained mum on the authenticity of the leak, but luckily Ne-Yo did not.
The rapper/singer commented on the leak in an interview with the UK’s Digital Spy, basically confirming the list. “I saw that Beyonce’s tracklisting just leaked and I’ve got a couple of joints on there, which is good news. I’m very happy about that,” Ne-Yo proclaimed. I wonder how “happy” Beyonce is about the leak, especially given that her record company just sued a man for leaking details and clips from 4 back in 2011.
Ne-Yo did say he hopes the tracks themselves will not leak, so that “music can come out when it’s actually supposed to come out.”
Ne-Yo also discussed working with Beyonce and her direction with the new album, admitting “I’ve heard some songs from the album so I knew what direction I should be going in. The last thing you want to do is write a song that makes no sense with the direction of the album, so she let me hear some stuff so I knew where to aim.”
Realizing he might have said too much, Ne-Yo ended the interview, saying “I can’t say much else as I’ve been sworn to secrecy!”
In addition to the Ne-Yo comments, a few other details point to the tracklist being legit. The leaked photo with handwritten titles also contains an album title, Mrs. Carter, which matches the title of Beyonce’s world tour, “The Mrs. Carter Show”–aka exactly the sort of ubiquitous cross promotion Beyonce loves.
The album also boasts several collaborators that have been hyped over the past few months, including Lady Gaga, Azealia Banks, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Sia, Rihanna, Ne-Yo and Bey’s little sister, Solange.
Here is the rumored track list from Mrs. Carter:
01. Ratchet (feat. Lady Gaga & Azealia Banks)
02. Back 2 Business (feat. Jay-Z)
03. Roller Coaster (feat. Justin Timberlake)
04. Visions (feat. Sia)
05. Dance (I’m Soon Over) (feat. Rihanna)
06. More Than Sex (feat. Ne-Yo)
07. Better Than Ever Before (feat. Solange Knowles)
08. Runway
09. Sensations
10.12 Roses
11. It’s All Over
The album has yet to get a release date, although rumors point to late April.
