Rihanna’s interview with Rolling Stone magazine will finally shed some light on her decision to reconcile with Chris Brown. In case fans were wondering, the Bajan beauty would rather be happy with her troubled ex than miserable apart from him. She said, “I decided it was more important for me to be happy”…I wasn’t going to let anybody’s opinion get in the way of that. Even if it’s a mistake, it’s my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I’d rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it.”
Rihanna has proven with her Twitter and Instagram accounts that she indeed lives by her own code. But, the 24-year old told Rolling Stone that she has grown since her last go-round with Brown. While their relationship is far from perfect (Karrueche Tran never seems to be too far behind the pair), Rihanna insists that this time her relationship with the ‘Beautiful People’ singer is different.
“You see us walking somewhere, driving somewhere, in the studio, in the club and you think you know,” she said of her rekindled romance. “But it’s different now. We don’t have those types of arguments anymore. We talk about sh-t. We value each other. We know exactly what we have now and we don’t want to lose that.”
Hopefully, Chris’s fight with Frank Ocean doesn’t affect the pair’s budding relationship. Brown was involved in a scuffle with the ‘Thinking About You’ singer in a parking lot of a studio the two were using to record. After some words were exchanged and apparently egos bruised, it was reported that someone from Ocean’s entourage started the fight by attacking Brown. Never one to back down, the 23-year old took action to defend himself.
Chris Brown’s Twitter account lit up like a Christmas tree with a heated exchange with Ocean in the days following their fight. Apparently someone in his camp gave him control of his Twitter account again; and again he abused the privilege. While the R&B crooner Ocean may be instigating trouble with the singer, Rihanna’s ex should know better than to engage in that nonsense; especially given his track record and history of violent outbursts.
Speaking of violent outbursts, Rihanna addressed the likelihood of her and Brown ending up in another domestic situation like the one they experience that infamous night in 2009.
“He doesn’t have the luxury of f***ing up again,” Rihanna points out.
“That’s just not an option. I can’t say that nothing else will ever go wrong. But I’m pretty solid in the knowing that he’s disgusted by that. And I wouldn’t have gone this far if I ever thought that was a possibility.”
Hopefully she is right, but either way, like she said, it’s her mistake to make.
