A recent article from EW.com has given audiences perhaps the first sneak peak of a commercial, showcasing a tiny amount of footage from Oz the Great and Powerful.
Oz the Great and Powerful isn’t set to hit theaters until March 8, but the promotional campaign seems to be in full swing. Accordingly, the production hopes to make its mark at the Super Bowl. The film stars the always marketable James Franco alongside Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams, a thrilling concoction of actors that gives any sporting event a run for its money.
The extremely quick preview of Oz the Great and Powerful reveals James Franco as Oscar Diggs in his hot air balloon. Naturally, the balloon is coasting in the wrong area of Kansas and is swept up into the Land of Oz by a tornado. The only thing that comes to Diggs’ mind is “Am I dreaming?” to which Mila Kunis aptly replies “You’re in Oz.”
A full length trailer for Oz the Great and Powerful was released back in November while a spooky looking poster followed a month later. Earlier this month, Rachel Weisz had nothing but good things to say about the bad side and bad intentions of her character. You know, the usual schtick before a film’s release.
One can only hope that the new commercial for Oz the Great and Powerful follows through on what this tiny snippet seems to be offering — more footage. After all, the film may be setting a new precedent with releasing a 11 second teaser for a 1-2 minute commercial. In case you haven’t been keeping up, Super Bowl XLVII (or, 47) will air Feb. 3 at 6:30 EST. Enjoy the short clip below.
