Bethenny Frankel Files for Divorce After Two Years of Marriage

Bethenny Frankel filed for divorce from husband Jason Hoppy earlier this week, just weeks after the couple separated before Christmas.

If you were hoping that Frankel and Hoppy might get back together after their separation in December, like most celebs do, you’re sadly mistaken.

Frankel took the first step in officially ending the 2 year marriage after she filed for divorce in New York City. Reportedly Frankel’s divorce lawyer may be Katie Holmes’ divorce lawyer – reportedly the duo exchanged information last week.

She may have taken the first step in ending her relationship with her daughter’s father, but that doesn’t mean she’s happy about it.

The Skinnygirl founded reached out to friends to find comfort during such a heart breaking time and apparently some girl time with her famous talk show host buddy Hoda Kotb was just what she needed.

“Time with @hodakotb is just what the doctor ordered,” the soon to be single mommy of one tweeted.

She even addressed the backlash and support she has received throughout this time.

“To those of you who are being supportive: thank you,” the 42-year-old tweeted. “To those of you who are judging: I totally get it.”

The Real Housewife was never particularly happy about breaking things off and didn’t hesitate to let the media know that her 2-year-old daughter Bryn was the couple’s first priority.

“This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother I have to accept as the best choice for my family,” Bryn’s mother said when she decided to separate from Hoppy a few weeks ago. “We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and will remain our first priority. This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us.”

The divorce is taking an emotional toll on the reality star, but it probably won’t have any financial backlash.

Frankel and Hoppy have a prenup, which was a wise decision considering the SkinnyGirl CEO is worth over $12 million according to Forbes.

Unfortunately, it seems like the Real Housewives curse struck once again because Bethenny is certainly not the first Real Housewives star to get divorced.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Adrienne Maloof filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years back in August, Taylor Armstrong filed for divorce in July of 2011, and Brandi Glanville called it quits back in 2010.

More recently, NeNe Leakes divorced her husband Gregg before the couple rekindled their relationship through lots of wining and dining. Now NeNe and Gregg are engaged for the second time.
