'Texas Chainsaw' Massacres Friday's Box Office

Lionsgate’s Texas Chainsaw 3D beat the competition on Friday as it placed No. 1 for the Friday Box Office with a debut of $10.2 million.

The highly anticipated horror film is now expected to win the weekend with a gross between $20 to $22 million, which Lionsgate can count as a win.

As with many horror films, critics rated Texas Chainsaw a C,  but as usual that didn’t stop moviegoers from rushing to theaters to get freaked out.

Other box hit’s such as Taratino’s Django Unchained, from the Weinstein Co., managed second place on Friday, with a gross of $6.2 million for a domestic total of $92.4 million. The spaghetti western film is estimated to earn at least $19.5 million for the weekend.

The Hobbit came in slightly ahead of Les Miserables, with a gross of  $5.2 million for a domestic total of $251.5 while Les Mis placed in fourth with $5 million for a domestic total of $92.5 million.
