'Texas Chainsaw 3D' Clip Shows More of the Same

The first clip for Texas Chainsaw 3D has emerged online, featuring the infamous Leatherface doing what he does best: aimlessly swinging around a chainsaw.

The clip begins by showing a pair of hapless young people mid-chase. They hunker down in a barn as Leatherface approaches from about 70 yards away, revving his mechanical weapon with purposeful antagonism. The couple shuts the door to the barn and arm themselves with a shotgun and a shovel, putting the former to sensible use against the madman. Unfortunately, it takes more than a shotgun blast to put the horror icon down.

Texas Chainsaw 3D takes place ten years after the original, featuring a brand new batch of young adults heading to Texas after one of them inherits an old property from a relative. Little do they know that secrets abound in this new house, one being maniacally psychotic and dangerous. John Luessenhop directed the film starring Alexandra Daddario, Tania Raymonde and Scott Eastwood.

By now, audiences should know what they’re getting into with films like Texas Chainsaw 3D. Acting, storyline and script are often nothing more than cyphers to facilitate an onscreen massacre. Sometimes this is done flawlessly and sometimes this is done quite horribly. Texas Chainsaw 3D seems to stand in the middle. The new clip doesn’t really get any nerves pumping, which is quite terrible considering the situation being presented. The score is somewhat laughable as well, seeming to be more appropriate for a cheesy action film.

Regardless, Texas Chainsaw 3D opens Jan. 4. Its name alone is sure to bring in crowds of a general nature and those who consider themselves loyal to the horror genre. Are you going? Decide after you check out the clip below.
