Grammy award winning group Boyz II Men will become the latest act to headline in Las Vegas. The R&B group will begin a series of shows at the Terry Fator Theatre at The Mirage on March 1.
Fans will be able to see Boyz II Men in Las Vegas each weekend, as the concerts will be on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
There has been a slight change in the group’s lineup since Boyz II Men’s heyday in the 1990s. Currently the group consists of only three members, baritone Nathan Morris and tenors Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morris. Unfortunately, original member and bass singer Michael McCary had to leave the group in 2003 for health reasons.
To date, Boyz II Men is the most successful R&B group of all time, having sold 60 million albums worldwide. They hold a particularly significant record in the history of the Billboard charts. Boyz II Men’s duet with Mariah Carey, the gospel tinged “One Sweet Day” sat at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for 16 weeks–longer than any other song in history.
Boyz II Men has also held that top Hot 100 spot for at least 50 weeks cumulatively, a feat only Elvis, the Beatles and Carey have accomplished as well. In addition to “One Sweet Day,” the group is known for other hits such as “Motown Philly,” “I’ll Make Love To You” and “End of the Road.”
Compared to classic Motown groups such as the Temptations, Boyz II Men rose to fame by fusing acapella vocals with modern R&B stylings. The group has won 4 Grammy Awards, 9 American Music Awards, 9 Soul Train Awards and 3 Billboard Awards.
Fans will have the opportunity to see Boyz II Men in Las Vegas for a total of 78 shows beginning March 1. Tickets will start around $40.
