Tamar Braxton, Karrueche Tran, 50 Cent: Top Twitter Beefs of 2012

Ever since there has been Twitter, there have been Twitter beef and battles. The social networking site has been a great tool to allow celebrities the opportunity to connect with their fans in a meaningful way. However, that only happens when artists, actors, and other celebs use Twitter for good. When they use it for evil, hilarious battles can ensue. Here are some of the most outrageous, funny, baffling and entertaining Twitter battles of 2012.

1. 50 Cent vs Floyd Mayweather

Breaking up is hard to do and these two divas definitely showed that on Twitter this year. These ‘best friends forever’ allegedly fell out over 50 Cent’s business acumen in dealing with Mayweather Promotions. Say what you will about 50 Cent’s rap career, but the man is known to be a great businessman. Before Mayweather went to jail to serve his sentence on domestic violence charges, he allegedly asked his friend to look over his business affairs. The rapper did more than that, he claimed. Once he saw that there was no Mayweather Promotions to speak of (no legal entity that is) and that Mayweather made all his money on the Golden Boy tickets (run by former boxer Oscar De La Hoya), he simply did what any good business man would do…he constructed and incorporated his friend’s business.

According to 50, Mayweather was ungrateful and he refused to pay him for his services…$2 million dollars to be exact. Naturally, they took to Twitter to air it out on each other. The pair went pound for pound; Mayweather taking jabs at ‘The Candy Shop’ rapper’s declining records sales and 50 hitting back about Mayweather dodging Pacquaio.

In the end, the pair must have kissed and made up because they jointly came out, claiming the whole Twitter beef was a publicity stunt.

2. Chris Brown vs Jenny Johnson

To be fair, Ms. Johnson must have wanted to go to war with the ‘Carpe Diem’ tour singer because she had been trolling Chris Brown for over two years. For his part, the singer had blocked her Twitter account so he wouldn’t have to see her disrespectful @-mentions. However, somehow her response “I know! Being a worthless piece of s— can really age a person,” made it to his timeline and all hell broke loose. The exchange got really heated, with Brown giving her his best impression of a woman-hater with,  “Take them teeth out when u Sucking my d— HOE,” and  “Let me leave this bitch alone … it’s good to know my worth by listening to a bitch that is worthless! #win #bushpigswag.”

Classy.

Some celebrities do not need to have a Twitter account, or at the very least they need a ghostwriter to pen their tweets. Chris Brown is one such celebrity.

3. Tamar Braxton vs Everyone

Judging by the amount of Twitter battles she’s been involved lately, this year must have been the year that Tamar Braxton was feeling herself. Most recently, Ms. Braxton was the target of ‘Love and Hip Hop Atlanta’ cast member Joseline Hernandez after she made comments that she thought Ms. Hernandez was indeed MR. Hernandez on the train-wreck talk show ‘Tiny Tonight.’

In the months past, Mrs. Vincent Herbert has targeted everyone from K. Michelle (why?) to Jill Scott. After WE TV aired the reality TV show featuring the gospel group ‘Mary, Mary’, Miss Jilly from Philly tweeted, “Please watch Mary Mary on WE tv. Finally a real representation. Yay!!!!!!!!!” Since ‘Braxton Family Values’ starring Tamar and her sisters airs on that network, naturally the blonde singer thought Ms. Scott had to be taking jabs at her.

Braxton tweeted, “Of freakin what?” and then added, ” “She won’t go there*she won’t go there*she won’t go there* she won’t go there*she prays and waits*”…. Oh!

Jill effectively ended that Twitter beef before it began by tweeting, ““U can’t be speaking to me”.

Class always beats ignorance and Jill handled that in a classy way for sure. Maybe Tamar can learn something from the ‘Light of the Sun’ Diva.

4. Rihanna vs. Karrueche Tran/ Rihanna vs. Joan Rivers

What would 2012 be without Rihanna and Karrueche Tran showing that even famous, beautiful and semi-talented women still have the most basic man-problems. These two went to war after Chris Brown confessed that he was in love with two women. Both women latched on to that confession like a dog to a whistle and their (still ongoing) cat-fight began.

It started innocently enough with Rihanna after she dressed up a bag of rice cakes with sunglasses and hoop earrings and tweeted, “I’ma make you my b–ch.” For some reason,  people thought those ‘Cake’ lyrics and the accompanying gesture was aimed at Karrueche Tran, Brown’s girlfriend at the time. Ever since then, the tweeted insults have flown between the two.

Meanwhile, the 23-year old part-time singer and full-time playboy has been noticeably quiet on Twitter regarding the feud between his exes.

While both women are upset with each other, they need to make a New Year’s resolution to be done with their Twitter beef…and Chris Brown.

In other Rihanna versus news, she had words with the queen of fashion critique, Joan Rivers. Apparently Rivers, like most of the public, was not happy about the re-kindled relationship between Rihanna and Chris Brown. Earlier this year she tweeted, “Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it’s MY turn to slap her.”

Rihanna shot back with, “@Joan_Rivers wow u really do get slow when you’re old huh?”

Rivers responded with, ““Honey, @Rihanna, everyone knows: If he hit you once, he’ll hit you again. Read the statistics. PS – Love to have you on Fashion Police!”

Their Twitter beef was short-lived, but we’ll see if all is forgiven if Rihanna shows up on River’s show.

5. Nicki Minaj vs Mariah Carey

Somehow the American Idol producers thought it would be a good to hire highly untalented Nicki Minaj to be a judge of….talent.

Okay…

Add in a flawlessly true talent like Mariah Carey and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Minaj’s rightful insecurity over her unproven music skill led to a violent collision behind the scenes between the two, with Carey alleging that the rainbow bright rapper threatened her with a gun. The beef spilled over to Twitter after Mariah sat down with Barbara Walters to discuss the issue. Minaj tweeted, “I don’t call tmz n Barbara Walters cuz I stand on my own two feet,” and “Never needed an army. God is good. Insecurity is as cruel as the grave.”

Oh Nicki…your insecurity is showing.

Ever entertaining, it’s a wonder what drama 2013 Twitter beefs will bring.

What other Twitter beefs had you baffled this year?
