The Voice winner was crowned last night, but not before Rihanna brought the house down with her hit single “Diamonds”. The bajan beauty indeed shone bright like a diamond in a black sequined jumpsuit with an embroidered belt. Taking her look back to a classic short haircut, dyed black; Rihanna looked polished and poised while delivering a great performance of her first single off her ‘Unapologetic’ album.
Cassadee Pope, winner of The Voice, was still numb after her win. She was coached by multi-Grammy winner Blake Sheldon, and beat out her Team Blake partner Terry McDermott to win the competition. She performed with Avril Lavigne, a dream-come-true for the former unknown musician. Pope said, “To be able to have my last performance be with Avril Lavigne was something I’ll never forget.”
Just two years ago, Rihanna teamed up with Avril Lavigne on the song “Cheers”, which was a hit for both pop stars. Last for her performance last night, Rihanna commanded the stage solo; kicking-off a litany of powerhouse performances by various artists during The Voice season 3 finale.
So what’s next for season 4 of The Voice? Judges Cee-Lo and Christina Aguilera are on their way out, both stars choosing to focus on their personal music projects instead. R&B mega-star Usher Raymond and Colombian sensation Shakira will be replacing them for season 4. While Usher and Shakira will bring a unique flavor to their teams, no doubt, fans can anticipate the return of Cee-Lo and Christina for season 5 of The Voice. How nice of Shakira and Usher to keep their seats warm in their project-related absence.
In more Rihanna news, her ‘Navy’ fans might be delighted to know that she is forging ahead in her career as a decided single woman. The star shared this picture with her fans, seemingly sealing the fate of her ‘friendship’ with ex-boyfriend and sometime lover Chris Brown. As he continues to jet-set with his alleged ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran, the pop princess apparently has had enough of being the fool. We can only hope this is a lasting move for Rihanna, who has a Diamond-bright future, without the drama of Chris Brown bringing her down.
