Tia and Tamera Mowry are both mothers now and they certainly aren’t strangers to supporting each other. So, it was a no-brainer for new mom Tamera Mowry-Housley to turn to her sister Tia for advice on all things mommy. Proving there’s nothing like sisterly love, Tia has dished on breastfeeding, the art of cat-naps and maintaining a balance with all the new mom responsibilities.
Before the birth of baby Aden, Tia counseled Tamera on the unpredictable nature of childbirth. While both sisters wanted to have a natural birth, Tia Mowry-Hardict had baby Cree via C-section. Now, she’s on to deliver advice to Tamera about new motherhood.
Tamera, like many first-time moms, was excited, yet overwhelmed with the breastfeeding process. In a recent interview, Mrs. Mowry-Housley recalled how her sister, Mrs. Mowry-Hardict, has given her sound advice and plenty of moral mommy support.
“The first thing, she was like ‘oh my goodness, how do you do this breastfeeding? It’s difficult, it’s hard, and it hurts!’” Tia, whose son Cree is 17-months-old, tells me this week during ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas Winter Wonderland event in NYC. “I’m like ‘just stay with it. Everything will be fine.”
Tia also gave her sister some important and practical advice about preserving her sanity with cat-naps. She said, ‘I’ve also given her the advice of ‘sleep when the baby sleeps,’ because, like me, we want to make sure everything is tidied up around the house and in the kitchen and with the clothes. I’m like ‘Tamera, you just have to let them pile up a little bit, and sleep when your baby sleeps, because if you don’t, you will be a walking zombie.”
In addition to being mommies on the move, the pair have recently ventured into making music. While their cousin Jerome has released a single on iTunes, ‘I Will’ featuring Tamera, Tia has been involved in the new ABC Family original movie ‘The Mistle-Tones.” The musical features Tia sounding off, literally, against an opposing caroling group lead by Tori Spelling.
Fans have reacted positively to the new single ‘I Will;’ which has led the sisters to consider recording a Christmas album in the future. With both Tia and Tamera being so talented individually and supportive of each other collectively, that’s an endeavor that is sure to succeed.
