Now that famed director Christopher Nolan has chosen to hang up the cape and cowl, he’s wasted no time in promoting his next project, Man of Steel. Nolan served as a producer for the Superman reboot and, naturally, has nothing but good things to say about it.
“I wouldn’t want people to think we’re doing for Superman what we did for Batman,” Nolan said. “It’s very much Zack’s film and I think people are going to love what he’s done.”
Christopher Nolan is of course referring to Man of Steel director Zack Snyder, who’s other work – for better and for worse – includes 2006’s now iconic 300, 2009’s critically acclaimed Watchmen, and last year’s somewhat stale Sucker Punch. Nolan has nothing but faith in what Snyder has put together for the character of Superman.
“I think it’s rely remarkable to take on that character,” he said. “Superman is a completely different character than Batman, so you can’t in anyway use the same template. But David Goyer had this brilliant way to make Superman relatable and relevant for his audience. Zack has built on that and I think it’s incredible what he’s putting together.”
Here, Nolan is nodding to the talents of screenwriter David Goyer, who also had a hand in creating all three stories for Nolan’s Batman trilogy. It’s no surprise the director is full of praise for the upcoming project.
“He’s got a lot of finishing to do on that,” Christopher Nolan continued. “Superman is the biggest comic book character of them all and he needs the biggest possible movie version which is what Zack’s doing. It’s really something.”
Starring Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe and Amy Adams, Man of Steel is set to hit theaters June 14. Be sure to check out the teaser trailer to get as hyped up as the rest of us, Christopher Nolan included.
