Chris Tucker To Star In Intouchables Remake?

Remember the French film, Intouchables, starring Omar Sy? Well Chris Tucker is currently in talks to star in the English version of the film.

In an interview with BlackFilm.com, this is what Tucker disclosed:

“I have been talking with them about doing it. I hope something will come out of it because I really like the movie and they are in the process of getting it together. So there’s a possibility that it might happen.”

If this deal goes down, Tucker will play a fun loving ex-con who takes on the job of caring for a quadriplegic millionaire, but has no qualifications or skills for the position.   Academy Award winner Colin Firth(Kings Speech) is in talks to star as the quadriplegic millionaire.

Intouchables was the third highest grossing film of all times in France and after The Weinstein Company released it in the US, it became one of the top five highest grossing French films in America.  The film went on to win a total of nine 2012 French César Awards.

The Weinstein Company, who also bought the rights to the film, have been working on this project since earlier this year and have enlisted Bridesmaids director Paul Feig to write and direct the remake.

Intouchables could possibly take an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language category next year.   If that happens, Tucker will have some major shoes fill.
