Oprah Winfrey Revives “Oprah’s Favorite Things” List

Oprah Winfrey has revived her “Oprah’s Favorite Things” list and the Microsoft Surface Tablet is one of those favorite things. “The Surface, Microsoft’s first tablet, feels like a Mercedes-Benz to me, people!” the mogul wrote on her website. “The full-size keyboard built right into the cover makes work easy, the very smart kickstand makes watching a movie or Skyping a friend a delight, the less than a pound-and-a-half weight makes a great alternative to a laptop, and the many other features make it fun for work and play. Now, that’s a wowser!” Perhaps, this endorsement will help Microsoft compete against Apple’s iPad, which was endorsed by Winfrey in 2010. “Words cannot describe what I feel for this magnificent device,” Oprah said about the iPad. “Thanks to my iPad, I now read about four newspapers a day. I write my column for ‘O’ magazine on the iPad way before the deadline because I love writing on it so much.”
Other items on the list included a pricy $160 pajama set, blue velvet cake and a pink scooter from Jetson. Winfrey also included clothing from high-end retailers like Coach, Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors. Kors and Tory Burch, also a designer, helped Winfrey compile the list.
Last month, the media queen announced that she would bring back the list via a two-hour special on her cable network OWN. During the special, she will be giving the items on the list to deserving military spouses. The special will air November 18 on OWN.

In addition to resurrecting “Oprah’s Favorite Things”, Winfrey has teamed up with the Huffington Post to launch HuffPost OWN. HuffPost OWN is a section of the Huffington Post dedicated to lifestyle and inspirational content from OWN and Oprah.com. The section officially launched on Thursday. “Thank you, Arianna, for allowing us to extend ‘the conversation’ about empowerment and how we can grow and evolve ourselves to the truest expression of who we each are meant to be,” Winfrey wrote in an introductory article. “This is my calling, my heart’s deepest desire: to fulfill my highest potential and to share what I know to help you do the same.”
