Nicki Minaj’s Big October

It’s been a very busy October for Nicki Minaj, as the young star juggles her new job as an “American Idol” judge with the filming of a trio of reality specials for E!, and the upcoming release of her sophomore album “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded- The Re-Up.” Minaj is currently in the midst of her European Roman Reloaded tour, which includes a total of 11 stops in England, Ireland and Wales. On Sunday, the first in a series of three reality specials titled Nicki Minaj: My Truth will air on E! at 10:30 p.m. In an interview with USA Today, Minaj opened up on what viewers can expect from the series.

“I guess what will most surprise a lot of people who may not be die-hard fans who haven’t known me for a long time is the honesty,” Minaj said. “I’m not trying to have a façade. I’m showing exactly what goes on in my life. I think people will be surprised at seeing that.”

Throughout October, Minaj has been doing her duty as an American Idol judge, taping for the show’s callback dates. Just months into her first season on Idol, rumors surfaced that the YMCMB star was feuding with fellow judge Mariah Carey, but in recent interviews, Minaj has refused to comment on her relationship with Carey. Instead, she explained her motivations as a judge, again expressing her desire to be genuine.

“I went into it thinking I want to be honest. I remember that some of the toughest criticism I’ve ever gotten is what stood out in my brain and what made me better,” she told MTV. “I didn’t want to go on the show and be phony to the contestants. I want them to have a real idea of the business, because this is real life.”

Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded- The Re-Up is set for release November 19, and American Idol season 12 will premiere with a two-hour episode this January.
