Denzel Washington Trained on Delta Air Lines’ Cockpit Simulator for ‘Flight’

Denzel Washington looks pretty convincing in his role as a pilot in the movie Flight for good reason, Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines, Inc., helped train the actor in a cockpit simulator.

Flight is set to debut Nov. 2, but the carrier has had some concerns that the film is set in Atlanta, that the film’s plane looks a little too much like an airplane that Delta flies, and that the airline at the center of the story is a Southern regional carrier, reports the Los Angeles Times.

According to IMDb.com, the movie is about an airline pilot who saves a flight from crashing, “but an investigation into the malfunctions reveals something troubling.”

According to the LA Times article, the drama is “about the culpability of alcoholic pilot Whip Whitaker (Denzel Washington) in an aviation disaster.”

It’s a pretty safe bet that Delta, or any other airline, won’t be signing on to show the film inflight, the movie’s director, Robert Zemeckis, told the LA Times.

“Don’t think it’s going to happen,” Zemeckis said.

The production filmed in and around Atlanta to take advantage of Georgia tax rebates…
