Tyler Perry has been forced to beg his fans to check out his new movie despite it’s bad reviews while Jessica Biel, on the other hand, has only good news to share as she has finally tied the knot with long time boyfriend Justin Timberlake.
Tyler Perry finally dropped the Madea costume for his new acting role, but it seems as if Tyler as a man doesn’t sell as well as Tyler as an elderly woman.
Perry doesn’t direct this movie, but he does play the main character of James Patterson’s best selling crime novels which apparently is one of the main criticisms on the film.
David Germain of the Associated Press called the new movie “a bust; boring hero, boring psycho, boring action” and also went on to say that “casting Perry as Cross was a bad idea” due to the fact that in his opinion “Perry is low-key bordering on sleepwalker dull.”
Germain wasn’t the only one who hit the movie with harsh criticisms.
Betsy Skarkey of the Los Angeles Times wrote, “Some of the dialogue is so bad it’s like an SNL (Saturday Night Live) skit gone south. Then, just as you begin to think that maybe Alex Cross is supposed to be a comedy, something serious, like a funeral, will happen.”
The general population didn’t react very positively to seeing the beloved Madea actor de-wigged and throw into an action film, but Tyler is begging his fans to still show him support.
“There are a lot of people who think I can’t’ do this,” the 43-year-old actor and director wrote on his blog. “There are also a lot of people who think you won’t show up because I’m not playing Madea. There are also a lot of people who are working overtime to try to discourage you from seeing Alex Cross as they do with all of my films… I’m hoping you’ll prove them all wrong… I’m so hoping you are planning on going out to see Alex Cross this weekend…”
Perry also revealed that this is the first time Hollywood has even considered him for a role like this, which isn’t surprising seeing as he has been branded as a slightly psychotic and hot headed senior lady who carries a hand gun in her purse.
There is one upside to the movie however, as the 225 pound star dropped 30 pounds for the new role.
Hopefully his fans will pay a few bucks just to go see his weight loss transformation on the big screen.
While Perry has been trying to change his image in the acting word, Justin Timberlake has finally managed to change his relationship status with former girlfriend Jessica Biel.
The Hollywood couple has been together for five years and has finally officially become husband and wife.
“It’s great to be married, the ceremony was beautiful and it was so special to be surrounded by our family and friends,” the newly weds told People magazine.
Both Justin and Jessica kept quite about their wedding plans and didn’t even let anyone in on who the guests would be.
The 31-year-old actor and singer proposed to Biel last December with a custom designed ring and the couple has been inseparable since then.
“She’s a really, really, really special person,” the former ‘N Sync member said of his wife who was recently honored at Variety’s Power of Women event for her charity work.
On Thursday the couple had a beach party with close friends and family to celebrate their nuptials.
