Leona Lewis Rejects Rihanna’s 'We Found Love' Hit for Single 'Trouble'

Leona Lewis has revealed that she was the original songstress behind Rihanna’s hit “We Found Love” and has even made claims that her version is better.

Leona is making a return to the music scene this week with her new album Glassheart, and her latest single “Trouble” has already been hitting top spots in several music charts.

However, the “Trouble” tune wasn’t always supposed to be the 27-year-old’s first single off her album.

“I worked with Calvin and we recorded We Found Love,” Lewis explained. “But he went touring with Rihanna and she ended up recording it.”

The “Collide” crooner didn’t take the matter personally, however, and just chalked this one up to how the music business is.

“There are so many songs I’ve recorded, only to hear other people singing them,” she admitted. “It happens all the time.”

The English beauty also revealed that she wasn’t even dedicated to the song at the time, which probably explains why they decided to move forward with RiRi singing the tune instead.

“I didn’t commit to it because I wanted ‘Trouble’ to be my first single so I think that was another reason they went with Rihanna,” the Islington native explained. “It was the same version and production but mine’s better.”

Despite being completely confident in the fact that she could upstage Chris Brown’s rekindled love flame with her own version of the hit, she decided not to make matters personal and keep things professional.

“I still have recordings but I’d never leak it,” she continued. “That’s so unprofessional. It was a bit annoying to see how big a hit it was around the world, but if I’d released it maybe it wouldn’t have done as well.”

The “Better in Time” songstress definitely hit the nail on the head because the “We Found Love” track sky rocketed to success because of the many alliterations and hints that the tune was a reference to the Barbadian singer’s relationship with Chris Brown.

Even the decision to feature another man who favored Rihanna’s ex in the video just added that much extra publicity for the new release.

Of course, with her album signing scheduled for later today she has other matters to worry about than someone stealing one of her songs.

Rihanna and Leona have more in common than recording the same tune. Back in 2009, Lewis also suffered an attack from someone who was supposed to love and support her… a fan.

During her book signing a man stepped forward to get the star’s autograph before suddenly punching her in the face for no apparent reason.

With her album signing just hours away, security has been beefed up to ensure that the X-Factor winner doesn’t experience the same fate once again.

While Leona was out preparing for the album signing with fans, the Good Girl Gone Bad was out getting her tattoos touched up and flaunting a rather inappropriate t-shirt… but then again what do you expect from Rihanna?

This time the 24-year-old actually decided to cover her body up, but as for the woman on her shirt? Not so much.

Jay-Z’s mentee sported a graphic tee with a woman’s bare bottom exposed in a thong with the words “West Coast” tattooed across her butt cheeks.

Considering the fact that just a few weeks ago Chris Brown’s lover was exposing her own butt on stage as she wore nothing but a gold jersey and sneakers, you almost have to give the Bajan songstress credit for making it someone else’s butt this time.

Earlier this month, she donned another graphic tee with a questionable image that showed her obvious love for marijuana.

In all honesty, the butt cheek exposing t-shirt and two toned gray sweat pants might be the most modest ensemble we’ll ever see on the “Talk that Talk” crooner.
