'Bullet to the Head' International Trailer Released

It’s difficult to choose between delight and woe when watching the new international trailer for Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming action flick, Bullet to the Head.

Bullet to the Head will star Stallone as Jimmy Bobo, a retired mercenary who is forced back into action when his daughter is kidnapped. Bobo pairs up with Taylor Kwon, played by Sung Kang, who’s partner was killed by the very same man that kidnaps Bobo’s daughter.

On one hand, it’s great to see ol’ Sly Stallone still moving around like he’s on the set of First Blood. The guy is in fantastic shape in spite of his age. It’s also somewhat refreshing to see that studios are still picking up a genre of film – “action,” or “buddy cop” – that seemingly died off for no reason in the early 2000’s.

On the other hand, it’s difficult to comprehend why a studio would allow Stallone and director Walter Hill to remake a movie so eerily similar to Taken, minus the charm, wisdom and articulation of Liam Neeson. It’s also vaguely sad that a genre that died out in the early 2000’s still has a considerable market. It’s hard to appreciate them outside the realm of nostalgia. Just look at films like The Expendables and its sequel to confirm that in some movies, script, plot, and acting ability has very little to no bearing whatsoever.

In any case, Bullet to the Head will hit theatres February 2013. All you action junkies will just have to revisit your Schwarzenegger and Stallone collections until then. Or, enjoy the trailer here, courtesy of MSN.
