Alicia Keys Talks Playdates with Beyoncé and Blue Ivy

Alicia Keys admitted that her son Egypt and Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy are playmates.

Keys has been making her rounds to promote her new album “Girl on Fire” and she made the revelation at her latest stop at Capital FM in the United Kingdom. “We do. We have like our little play dates… Nah!” she joked. “But no, we’re friends and it’s amazing to be able to have children at the same time – it’s actually really cool. It just changes you, we talk a lot and it’s like what’s important has shifted.”

This isn’t only time family life has come up in one of Keys’ interview. She recently sat down with Ebony magazine to talk about her life as a wife and mother. In this interview, she referred to husband Swizz Beats as her soulmate and expressed that she feels like she can be herself around him. “Finding my soulmate, finding the love of my life has been a freeing experience because of the way we identify [with] each other and understand each other. It’s so rare that you feel like you can be your whole self [with someone],” she told Ebony. “I can be my whole self, he can be his whole self. I don’t have to be half of myself, he doesn’t have to be half of himself. We can just be ourselves and so that alone [is a different feeling].”

She also shared how becoming Egypt’s mother has changed her life. “It makes every — the smallest thing amazing. Like the first time he’s discovering how to say the word ‘light.’ Like ‘light’ is the most exciting thing. (She imitates Egypt) And it’s kind of true! The light is amazing,” she gushed. “Like, ‘Look! You turn it off and then you turn it on and it’s beautiful!’ But for (adults) things become so routine, so mundane and for him he’s discovering things for the first time so it makes me see things in a new place.”
