If you’re unsure whether or not Halloween is approaching, take a long hard look at the various movies coming out within the next few weeks. More specifically, take note that Paranormal Activity 4 is hitting theatres soon and has released a new trailer.
Paranormal Activity 4 will be released nationwide October 19. Unlike it’s predecessor, it will not be a prequel, but pick up where Paranormal Activity and its sequel left off – if anyone can actually remember the story line from the 2007 and 2010 blockbusters.
By now audiences should know what they’re getting into when purchasing a ticket to see a Paranormal Activity film: jump scares galore, new ways to show a “found footage” film (in Paranormal Activity 3 they used a fan!) and a storyline so minimal that you wish your adrenaline would stop pumping for a few seconds so you can catch up.
The fourth incarnation doesn’t seem to be deviating much. As one can see by watching the trailer for Paranormal Activity 4, directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman here attempt to effectively utilize the modern technology of webcams and XBOX Kinect to scare their thrill-seeking audience.
However, this new trailer does seem to actually eliminate a bit of creepiness. It focuses on younger members of the cast exclusively, making Paranormal Activity 4 appear as a teen oriented mystery more than anything else. Its former trailers had much more to offer. In addition, where previous trailers didn’t give Kathryn Newton – our new leading lady – nearly as much screen time, this new trailer all but guarentees she will be the primary focus of the film. We’ll see whether or not that’s a good idea.
Paranormal Activity 4 will be in a theatre near you on October 19, turning your local horror enthusiasts into either jaded elitists or adrenaline junkies. While you’re waiting, enjoy the new trailer below.
