The Voice is doing a little spring cleaning on their judges panel.
The hit NBC reality talent series has hired Latin singer Shakira and R&B singer Usher as coaches for the upcoming spring segment of the show. The two will replace Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, who are slated to return to the show for the subsequent fall season.
The new judges are part NBC and producers’ plan to develop an ongoing talent stream for The Voice that can be switched out as needed. Given the talented judges, it’s difficult to have all of them appear on the show during all the seasons, considering their tour schedules and etc…
“We are thrilled to welcome Usher and Shakira to The Voice. The addition of these popular iconic artists continues the tradition established by Christina, CeeLo, Adam and Blake,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “Doing two back-to-back cycles of this show requires a tremendous amount of time, and we are happy to accommodate the commitments made by Christina and CeeLo. The participants on our show benefit from our coaches’ expertise and their continued success in the music business allows for significant new contributions to the contestants when they return.”
The other original coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will remain seated for the spring, according to reports. The Voice began airing its third season last week.
