Samuel L. Jackson will be bringing his own unique brand of profane social commentary to the Obama campaign, starring in a ad that will tell voters to “Wake the f–k up, Vote for Obama!”
The ad will be based off his video that became a youtube sensation in which he is reading Adam Mansbach’s bestselling book, “Go the F*ck to Sleep,” a profane nursery rhyme that became popular particularly among the parents of young children. (Listen to Sam reading the book in the clip below. Do NOT listen with your young children around, or if your boss is lurking.)
Jackson’s intro of the book is about as funny as his reading. He says in the beginning that in his experience, reading stories to put kids to sleep just doesn’t work. Jackson said he used to say “go the f*** to sleep” to his own daughter growing up.
He says in the video, “I think at some point, she would look at me when I would come in her room, and she’d say, ‘Go the f*** to sleep, Daddy?” And I’d say, ‘Yeah go the f*** to sleep.'”
Jackson, a star of the recent “Avengers” film and one of the top-grossing actors of all time, is a well-known Obama supporter who told Ebony magazine earlier this year that the reason he voted for Obama was simple: “He was black. Cause that’s why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them.”
Jackson said it didn’t really matter what Obama said since he believes most politicians will say anything to get elected.
“That’s American politics, pure and simple. [Obama’s] message didn’t mean [anything] to me. In the end, he’s a politician. I just hoped he would do some of what he said he was gonna do. I know politicians … lie cause they want to get elected,” he continued
The “F*ck” ad is funded by the Jewish Council for Education and Research Super PAC. The author Mansbach will be writing the script for the ad.
It is scheduled to debut on Youtube on September 24.
